"I'm sure Jerry Jones looking at Shedeur" - Michael Irvin predicts Cowboys could rope in Deion Sanders if Dak Prescott-Mike McCarthy doesn't work
Will the Dallas Cowboys become the Sanders Experience in 2025?
Rumors have abounded that owner Jerry Jones could replace coach Mike McCarthy and franchise quarterback Dak Prescott with the Colorado Buffaloes' father-son duo of Deion Sanders and Shedeur Shedeur at the end of the 2024 season.
Notably, the former cornerback's fellow Hall-of-Famer and ex-teammate Michael Irvin thinks it has a sizable chance of happening.
Speaking on the "It Is What It Is" show on Monday, the former wide receiver shared his thoughts:
"[If] this thing plays into the season and Dak and Mike McCarthy's not doing well, I'm sure Jerry's looking at Shedeur over there. He understands that's going to be a package deal too," Irvin said. "So if one goes, two go. If one come, both come. If Dak goes and Mike McCarthy might be gone, they gonna bring in Shedeur and bring Deion in with it."
About the media coverage and exposure that such moves would attract, he added:
"I just don't know if Jerry can handle Deion but they're so tight. Jerry and Deion they are so tight. Deion understands Jerry. Jerry understands Deion. Both of them understand the media know how to use the media. So it would be epic to see those two working together."

As of now, this remains just a prediction that may not happen, depending on other teams' interest in Shedeur – particularly the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants – who each want a new franchise quarterback.
Move for Deion and Shedeur Sanders would represent a return to boldness for Jerry Jones
Elsewhere, SB Nation's James Dator also welcomes the prospect of the Cowboys bringing in the father-and-son duo into their fold. He believes such a move would represent a return to boldness and flashiness for owner Jerry Jones after a long period of safe – yet arguably logical – hirings that can be traced back to Wade Phillips (via SB Nation):
"Promoting Deion straight out of Colorado would have serious shades of Jimmy Johnson to it. Sure, Sanders hasn’t brought the level of success to Boulder that Johnson did at The U — but the shared DNA is the style, swagger, and bravado that Jerry Jones craves," Dator said.
And then there is also the sentimental aspect of Shedeur Sanders joining the team of the city/metropolitan area where he was born a decade after his father won a Super Bowl with the same organization.
Most analysts have Shedeur as one of the first two quarterbacks in a weak positional class, so if this were to become a reality, the Cowboys may have to trade away some assets to put themselves higher up the draft order to snap him up.
