“I never been no hazard”: C.J. Gardner-Johnson calls out Eagles for being disrespectful months after shocking Texans trade

The Houston Texans have a quality cornerback determined to prove the haters wrong. In a fiery interview with KPRC2, C.J. Gardner-Johnson spoke about the shocking trade that sent him from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Texans in March.

“I feel highly disrespected, but it’s a business,” Gardner-Johnson said on Saturday. "People say, ‘He’s a hazard, he’s this, he’s that.’ I never been no hazard, bro. They got no real issues on me. That black ball ain’t going to work on me because I got me a ring.”

Gardner-Johnson co-led the NFL in interceptions in 2022, and tied his career-high for picks last season. He started 16 games to help the Eagles capture their second Super Bowl title. However, according to him, that was just the beginning, as he vows to deliver more championships in the future.

“I got three more championships in me," Garder-Johnson said. "I’m probably going to win the next three. I’m going to get me another Super Bowl this year. Just watch.”

Houston is pegged as a potential Super Bowl contender next season, and have won the AFC South twice under DeMeco Ryans.

Heading into the fourth quarter of the AFC divisional round in January, the Texans were down by only one point to the Chiefs, but wound up losing 23-14.

Gardner-Johnson will be playing for his third team in three years. Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman said that the trade with Houston was made primarily for financial reasons.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson clears the air about ex-teammate

After last season, rumors circulated about a rift between C.J.Gardner-Johnson and Darius Slay. It started as Slay credited Reed Blankenship for being the Eagles' leader defensively.

Gardner-Johnson responded to it on X.

“You would think feelings would be mutual after a great season but …… aye twin keep that sh*t solid,” Gardner-Johnson tweeted in March.

Gardner-Johnson also addressed the supposed spat between them on News Week on Sunday.

“Let’s clear this Slay (stuff) up now, I got no problem with him," Gardner-Johnson said. "He’s a respectable vet. I ain’t never going to hate on someone like that. When that real Florida (personality) walk in that building, they know.”

Since winning the Super Bowl, they have each gone their separate ways. Gardner-Johnson is now a Texan, and Slay joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in March.
