"I don't see it working" — Travis Kelce shuts down A.J. Brown’s idea of WR meetup after TEU success

Travis Kelce and his fellow tight ends had another successful iteration of their annual tight end meet. However, the Kansas City Chiefs star shot down any prospect of the league’s wide receivers successfully pulling off anything like it.

The Tight End University is an initiative led by Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen. For the past four years, they have hosted a camp for tight ends across the NFL. Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown pitched an idea to do something similar with WRs as well, the idea received approval from Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill as well.

However, Travis Kelce on his "New Heights" podcast, said that he sees little chance of the WR meetup being successful. The Kansas City Chiefs TE said:

“I don't see it working. Well, I just don't think any— they'll set a time and then nobody will be there on time. It’ll just be people just strolling in.”
“I think A.J.’s intentions are great. I just don't think everybody's gonna get on board.” [26:10 - 26:50]

A.J. Brown will have to mount a stronger pitch for his future camp after Travis Kelce's damning words.

Travis Kelce shares the success of TEU

While the main theme for TEU every year since its inception has been to initiate bonding and friendships within the TE camp across the league. This year its secondary initiative of raising money for different charities also saw huge success.

“It is unbelievable where it's come, I'm pretty sure we've made somewhere close to a million dollars for charity. In terms of sponsorships. And that's just, like, that's like a side deal,” Kelce said [17:42 – 17:55]

The Tight End University every year holds charitable aspects within the programme. As per The Athletic, the previous record was from 2022, as TEU raised more than $681K. This year’s figure is closer to $1 million with the help of sponsorships.
