Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy officially joins bandwagon to bring Odell Beckham Jr. to town

Rumors have been swirling about Odell Beckham Jr. and potential landing spots in recent days. The Dallas Cowboys seem to be the frontrunner or at least the most-talked-about destination for the wide receiver.

Cowboys head coach Mick McCarthy was interviewed on "105.3 The Fan" about potentially bringing Beckham into the fold. During the interview, McCarthy praised the former Los Angeles Rams star and welcomed his potential addition, saying (as per Jon Machota):

"I've always had such great respect for him, just the way he plays. I've worked with a number of coaches over the years that have worked with him. You watch a guy play on tape, and obviously his play speaks for itself, he's a dynamic, impact-type player."

He went on to outline expectations that Beckham Jr. would fit well within the locker room:

"But, I've heard nothing but great things about him and what he brings to the locker room, the type of teammate he is, the way he interacts with the support staff and so forth. Those things are important to me.
"And I think that shows in our locker room. I think we all just think he'd be an excellent fit here."

The last year and more have been a trying but rewarding period for Odell Beckham Jr.

After riding high at the end of the 2020 season, the wide receiver entered 2021 with potential Super Bowl hopes. He endured a slow opening half of the season with the Cleveland Browns and asked for a release from Baker Mayfield's team.

It was granted and Beckham high-tailed it to La La Land, where he joined Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams. In the second half of the season, he helped boost the team through the final stretch of the regular season and through the playoffs.

However, his season ended just a few quarters short as he tore his ACL during the Super Bowl.

He has since been recovering and, now that he is on the doorstep of returning, teams are lining up to sign the playmaker. Will Odell Beckham Jr. join the Cowboys or could another team pry him away?
