Iconic former NFL Pro Bowler delivers no-holds-barred take on George Pickens after Steelers' 29-10 loss to Chiefs
With fans from over 200 countries tuning into Netflix, the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Kansas City Chiefs in a game with consequences for both teams. A lot was expected of the Steelers, especially with George Pickens making his way back from injury.
Alas, the Steelers could not seem to get going on Christmas Day as Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs walked all over them, taking home a 29-10 win. There was plenty of blame to go around after the game with several Steelers players also making their frustrations known.
One NFL icon who did not shy away from naming names was Terrell Owens. The San Francisco 49ers Hall of Famer did not hold back on Pickens' performance on the day. After the game, Owens quote tweeted a post featuring Cam Ward's words - "When 10 guys do their job and one guy doesn’t, we are screwed" - and wrote:
"Same on offense as well when you got #14 not running his routes causing INTs."
Pickens' comeback failed to give the Steelers any significant boost. All in all, he hauled in three of his seven targets for 50 yards against Kansas City. He now needs exactly 100 yards to hit the 1,000-yard mark for the season. He will have an opportunity to do that when the Steelers take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18.
What the Steelers' playoff picture looks like after Week 17 loss to Kansas City Chiefs
As things stand, the Steelers are 10-6 and second in the AFC North behind the 11-win Baltimore Ravens. Pittsburgh projects to be the fifth seed in the AFC behind the Ravens and the Texans. The Steelers need the Ravens to lose their final game against the Cleveland Browns to have any hope of securing the No. 3 seed.
There are still two spots up for grabs in the conference. The Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos are penciled in for those two spots though the Colts, Dolphins and Bengals also have an outside chance.
The Bengals' Saturday evening showdown against the Denver Broncos will have increased weightage in the AFC. If Cincinnati wins, their hopes of making the playoffs jump to 11%. If they lose, they will be down and out.
