“If I'm not doing football, I'm doing recovery”- George Kittle gets candid on NFL players' health scare as Thursday Night Fixture debates galore

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is not a fan of the NFL's latest ruling, which states that teams can now play two Thursday night games a season. While at face value it doesn't seem all that bad, the physical toll certainly is.

It affects teams and most players struggle with playing on Sunday and then fronting up again on Thursday. That's the case when it has to be done once a season, let alone twice.

Kittle, who was speaking with Theo Von on his podcast called This Past Weekend, detailed what actually goes on for him health-wise during a season. He also discussed how two Thursday night games a season would impact him:

"I'm in multiple car accidents every Sunday…I've had games where I hyper-extended my knee, that's gonna affect your season. Or you burst a bursa sac in your knee. That's going to be there for several weeks. And if you get lucky, you don't have to deal with that stuff. It's a little bit better, but you're still getting into these car accidents."
"Really now how I see it is, if I'm not doing football, I'm doing recovery."

Kittle is already struggling with the physical toll of playing NFL football. If you factor in playing two Thursday night games a season, it's going to be even tougher.

Given the physical style of George Kittle's play, it is not surprising that the tight end rehabs virtually every day of the NFL season.

But it is worth noting that Kittle hasn't played a full NFL season since 2018. This is due to all the injuries that the tight end has suffered.

That is with one Thursday night game in the schedule. Now, if we add another, the physical toll on not only Kittle, but other NFL players will be even greater.

Exactly how players will adjust and recover from two Thursday night games is unknown, but going by George Kittle's account, it is going to be really tough.
