IN PHOTOS: Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo sign marriage license ahead of dream summer wedding
Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo have been planning their wedding ceremony for a long time. But their life as husband and wife begins now.
On Wednesday, accessory company Jennifer Behr shared images of the San Francisco 49ers running back and the 2012 Miss Universe signing their marriage contract on Instagram:
While the two have been keeping many of its details a secret, it seems the ceremony will be at the Ocean House in Westerly, Rhode Island. A resident of Newport told WJAR, NBC's affiliate in the area:
"I think it's great! I think it is pretty much likely in Newport. It's a wedding destination so why not? It's an absolutely beautiful place to get married."
Another said:
"The fact that it's right down the street from our beach palace is nuts you know. So I didn't even know he was getting married."
As the date of her special occasion approaches, Culpo has been giving monthly interviews, mainly to PEOPLE, about the state of preparations. In the latest one, last month, she said that she they were looking to bring back an old tradition:
"I know for sure we're not going to do a first look, so he won’t see me until I'm walking down the aisle. I think that that's a little less common these days."
Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo adopt turtle for their "family"
Once Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo finally become husband and wife, they will face the next familial task: having children. But they have a head start, as they have a dog, Oliver Sprinkles, whom they adopted in 2020.
Last Saturday, their family got a new addition. The couple were having a leisurely walk when Oliver spotted something strange. Culpo recalled in an Instagram story:
"He comes across this little stump and won’t stop sniffing. What do you guys think it is? It’s … a turtle. Look at that turtle. 'What are we going to name him, Christian?'”
Christian McCaffrey immediately decided to name it Charles. He was wearing gloves at the time, which proved handy as the animal he was grabbing is known for its bite:
“He can snap my arm off … (Charles is) a snapping turtle. Look at that guy. Oh, man. What’s up, buddy? Let’s go find him a home.”
