Russell Wilson-led Pittsburgh Steelers took full advantage of key turnovers by the Cleveland Browns on SNF
Russell Wilson's team may not have had their most explosive performance by finishing with just 267 yards. However, they capitalized on key turnovers by the Cleveland Browns.
When Browns quarterback Jameis Winston threw a critical interception, it led to the Steelers taking an early lead. Additionally, a TD pass from Wilson to Van Jefferson and another to Pat Freiermuth helped Pittsburgh extend its lead 27-7. The Browns' late TD was not enough to close the gap.
Wilson’s performance, 15 of 26 for 158 yards and two TDs, contributed to the Steelers' success. On the other hand, the Browns struggled with turnovers and a low conversion rate on third downs. They finished just 2 of 13.
Wilson, who was considered as washed in the last two years with the Denver Broncos, has seen a resurgence with the Steelers.
Talking about his unexpected comeback, Wilson gave a lot of credit to Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.
"I think obviously, Coach Tomlin is, you know, in my opinion, the best coach in the National Football League," Wilson said on Sunday, via KXAN. "Maybe in all of sports, in my opinion. You know I think how he leads us, how he communicates, his demeanor, you know, his passion for winning. It's a special thing and I can't explain it enough to you guys. You know, how great he is as a leader and the culture here."
The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 16. Until then, Russell Wilson, Ciara and their children can bask in the joy of the Steelers' big win.
