Is Justin Fields vegan? Bears QB reveals how COVID pandemic changed his lifestyle
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has had a big sophomore leap since his rookie season. He threw for more yards and touchdowns, had a higher completion percentage and a higher passer rating than his rookie season while also winning one more game.
He also rushed for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. Part of what leads to his success is how he trains and takes care of his body. Alongside intense and consistent training, Fields maintains a healthy, consistent diet which consists of a vegan-strict diet.
Fields joined "Pardon my Take" and spoke about how he adapted to a plant-based vegan diet during the COVID-19 pandemic. He explained how he was living with his parents at the time and they did a four-week plant-based diet which he tried and adapted right after.
Fields said:
“So, during quarantine, my parents did this like four-week plant-based diet, I was just at home with them. So I tried it out with them. It was me, my sister, my parents and you know, after that four-week period, I liked how I felt and I just kept going on on with it.
"So, uh, you know, I kind of worked my way into it slowly after that, so I would just be vegan. Like during the weekdays. And then I would, you know, have cheat meals during the weekend and then before my last year in college, I finally made the full switch and kind of just stuck with it since then."
Fields admitted that every now and then he will enjoy a non-vegan meal:
"But you know, every now and then when I go to like a steak house, and, you know, they don't have a crazy amount of vegan options. I might get like sea bass or something like that, or salmon or something like that."
Is Justin Fields in danger of being traded as the Bears hold the number-one overall pick?
The Chicago Bears currently hold the number one pick in the 2023 NFL draft after finishing the season 3-14.
The QB class in this draft is a strong one, with many QB-needy teams looking to trade up and select the QB of their future.
The Bears can decide to move on from Fields and draft a top guy such as Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud, draft a different positioned player with the pick, or trade back for more picks.
The team will likely trade back or draft a different position to help surround Fields with talent.
