Is there ManningCast tonight during Chargers vs. Broncos?

Many have become hooked to the ManningCast featuring former NFL star quarterbacks and brothers Peyton Manning and Eli Manning. They analyze Monday Night Football games while speaking to their guests, providing a unique perspective on matches. Unfortunately, we have some bad news for you. There will not be a ManningCast tonight for the game between the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers.

It is especially frustrating for fans that ManningCast will not be on this week as there are a lot of subplots that could have been explored. First and foremost, it is the history of the quarterbacks with these teams that is fascinating.

In the 2004 NFL Draft, Eli Manning was selected first overall by the San Diego Chargers but he refused to play for them. He moved to the New York Giants and won two Super Bowls with them. The Chargers found a franchise quarterback in Phillip Rivers from the same draft, so everyone went home a winner. But it would have been fascinating to hear Eli Manning commenting on a team that he could have led in an alternate reality.

If Chargers fans might miss Eli Manning for what might have been, Broncos fans will miss Peyton Manning for what they had. Peyton Manning played some of his best years with the Denver Broncos. He recorded the most touchdown passes (55) in a single season with them in the 2013 campaign. He led them to two AFC Championship wins and a Super Bowl victory in his last season. He still lives in the area and is often seen at the Broncos' facilities.

55 PASS TD
5,477 PASS YDS

115.1 QB Rating

Peyton Manning's stats from his record-breaking year with the @Broncos in 2013 are just wild.

Missing intrigue from tonight's ManningCast absence

There is also additional drama to contend with beyond the history of the Manning brothers with these teams. Russell Wilson was supposed to end the search for a franchise quarterback for the Broncos. He was supposed to stabilize a position that has seen a lot of faces since Peyton Manning retired. But Wilson's performances have been poor and the younger Manning brother has taken the lead in criticizing him.

Eli Manning has laid into Russell Wilson and often joked at his expense. He said that the $235 million contract that the Broncos paid Wilson could have gone to the punter instead. While we will miss such cutting quips this week, there is good news as ManningCast returns in Week 7 for the Chicago Bears versus New England Patriots.
