“Is Miami allowed to sign Tom Brady now?” – Super Bowl champion proposes radical solution after Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion
Tua Tagovailoa had the worst season opener of his career on Thursday Night Football, throwing three interceptions, one of which was returned for a pick-six. To make matters worse, he suffered a concussion following a hit, which is not the first time this has happened in his career.
The concussion has some viewers braced for an extended absence for the quarterback, although no timelines appear to be set. That said, one Super Bowl champion made his case for one broadcaster to finally finish his previous attempt to join the Miami Dolphins.
Taking to Twitter/X on September 12, former Chiefs offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz named Tom Brady a great fit to fill the vacancy to replace Tagovailoa. Based on his wording, the open solicitation appeared to be somewhat of a half-hearted joke.
"Is Miami allowed to sign Tom Brady now? Can you be a player, (partial) team owner, and broadcaster all at once?" he wrote on X.
Brady has been spotted this season in videos slinging the ball and continuing to work out. Now age 47, Brady would instantly become the oldest player in the NFL if he were to leave the booth behind for one last hurrah.

While Tom Brady ditching his $375 million contract with FOX to take hits on a weekly basis is not likely, there is one other quarterback that makes sense.
At the time of writing, former Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill remains on the market as a player who many believe is the best option available. The 36-year-old quarterback hasn't played for the Dolphins since 2018. The predecessor to Tua Tagovailoa, Tannehill, also could be his successor for a time.
Tannehill spent the last five seasons playing for the Tennessee Titans, where he won the job from Marcus Mariota. With the team, he managed to reach an AFC Championship game and owns an 81-70 record.
Most agree his addition would be an upgrade over Skylar Thompson, who hasn't played in a game since 2022. Of course, there's a chance Tagovailoa could be back under center as soon as the team's next game with a 10-day window to work through the injury.
However, if the absence is longer, as successive concussions could cause, Tannehill is waiting in the wings. Will the Miami Dolphins make a move or grit their teeth with Thompson?
