Is Russell Wilson’s Dangerwich off the menu? Subway pulls Broncos QB’s sandwich after social media pile-on

Spooky season is coming, and Subway seems to be the one getting spooked. Russell Wilson's Dangerwich sandwich was pulled off the Subway menu after social media users were ruthless in their trolling. It is quite a letdown for the NFL player to see his star dim to this extent.

When Subway came up with their "Vault" selection around the Super Bowl, they offered a menu of various NFL stars with specific sandwiches assigned to NFL players. Russell Wilson's Dangerwich had "pepperoni, salami, black forest ham, provolone cheese and bacon on Italian Herbs and Cheese bread, topped with lettuce, green peppers, tomatoes, and banana peppers, and finished with yellow mustard and mayo."

The Dangerwich did not see much popularity during that time but has now become infamous, given the dismal performances on the field by the Denver Broncos quarterback. His performance in the ad was famously stilted too.

With Russell Wilson back in the news for his woeful on-field performances, social media users could not help but troll the quarterback.

They all lampooned his performance in the advertisement and compared it to how poorly he played. In the face of such vicious trolling, users spotted that Subway had removed Dangerwich from their offerings.

The Dangerwich has been removed from Subway’s menu. Must’ve been too dangerous. We should’ve taken Russ’s advice when he told us to be careful though. It’s spicy. https://t.co/86ugN1jpHr

But just how bad have Wilson's performances been this season? Read on to find out.

The Subway Dangerwich commercial was bad, Russell Wilson's performances have been worse in 2022

Ever since Russell Wilson moved to the Denver Broncos this season in a blockbuster trade from the Seattle Seahawks, his performances have left much to be desired. The Broncos are 2-4 this season mainly because of their underperforming offense. The Broncos are second from the bottom with only 91 total points scored in 6 games, with only the Houston Texans, who have played a game less, trailing them. So, in points per game, they are dead bottom of the league with 15.2.

Russell Wilson has an abysmal 58.6% completion rate on his passes and has thrown for only five touchdowns this season. This means that he is averaging less than one touchdown per game. His previously celebrated mobility from the pocket seems to have disappeared too. He has only one rushing touchdown in six games and has been sacked 20 times already.

It is a damning look for him, and the Denver Broncos quarterback is also struggling with a hamstring problem. Denver was supposed to be a challenger for the Super Bowl with their mean defense and offense unlocked by Wilson. While the defense has held its end of the bargain, the offense has set them back.
