Isaiah Buggs arrest: Chiefs DE faces fresh charges of burglary and domestic violence
Isaiah Buggs has been arrested on new charges today. The Kansas City Chiefs DE is amongst several players from the roster to face trouble this offseason, after winning the Super Bowl. However, this is not Buggs’ first brush with the law in the past month.
Buggs was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, the 27-year-old has played under the banners of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Detroit Lions, before joining the Chiefs last year.
Ryan Phillips of Tuscaloosa Patch broke the story of Isaiah Buggs being arrested for the second time in less than a month. Philips posted on X (previously Twitter):
“Tuscaloosa County Jail records show former Tide defensive lineman and Kansas City Chief Isaiah Buggs was arrested for burglary on Sunday.”
As per Tuscaloosa Court records, the Super Bowl winner was arrested and booked on June 16, with a second-degree charge of burglary and a second-degree charge of domestic violence.
Buggs was arrested by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office with a release bond set for $5,000.
What was Isaiah Buggs’ previous arrest for?
Tuscaloosa County in late May had filed two misdemeanor warrants against Isaiah Buggs. As per the warrants, the Chiefs' man was accused of mistreating two dogs. The court documents showed that a grey and white pit bull and a black rottweiler tied in a porch rented by Buggs had no access to water or food.
The defensive lineman had turned himself in on May 30 for these charges. He was booked and released on the same day with a $600 bond. While the misdemeanor cases are still pending in the courts, Buggs will have to face and fight these fresh charges.
At the time of writing this article, it is unclear whether Isaiah Buggs has paid his bond money and secured his release.
