J.J. McCarthy trolls Packers as Vikings dominate against Green Bay
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy may not be playing this season after he suffered a knee injury, but he is still in full support of the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings were undefeated heading into the Week 4 matchup against their NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers.
McCarthy shared a photo of Vikings wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. In front of the photo, McCarthy added a video game feature that showed the opponent was 'conceding' to them, joking that the Packers had given up.
"Your peer has conceded the game."
The former Michigan standout isn't expected to play this season, but it appears that Sam Darnold has full control of the offense. The Vikings held on to their lead to ultimately secure a 31-29 win to remain undefeated at 4-0.
J.J. McCarthy approves of Sam Darnold's performance
Last week, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Houston Texans 34-7. The dominant win saw McCarthy applauding Sam Darnold's game.
In a post on X, McCarthy wrote:
"Sam Darnold is good at football."
Darnold had a solid start through the first three games of the season before Sunday's game. He completed 53 of 78 passes for eight touchdowns with just two interceptions. He also had eight rushing attempts for 35 yards.
The Vikings drafted J.J. McCarthy with the 10th overall draft selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite suffering a season-ending knee injury in preseason, the team committed to him being the quarterback of the future. With the way Sam Darnold is playing, Minnesota can be confident that they have a solid option at the position and not rush the rookie back onto the field before he is ready.
