Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni working on getting rid of ‘disconnect’ to avoid another collapse: Report
Last season, Jalen Hurts led his team to another Super Bowl-worthy run. However, the Eagles suffered a historic meltdown in the second half of the regular season, eventually crashing out in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
After the Philadelphia Eagles lost six of their last seven, including a first-round playoff loss, several rumors mentioned a 'disconnect' in the relationship between the quarterback and coach Nick Sirianni. Now Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports of them trying to ‘patch up’ things.
As per Russini, their differences stem from having opposite personalities. Hurts is a quiet and private individual, while Sirianni is emotional. Both are trying to mend their differences ahead of the upcoming season.
Even after three years on the same team, including falling a win short of winning the Super Bowl in 2023, Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni’s relationship is still ‘in progress.’ However, as Russini states, this is a step in the right direction after the collapse from going 10-1 earlier last season.
The Eagles have made some coaching changes for this season. They have replaced their defensive and offensive coordinators while keeping the QB and head coach pair intact. An improvement in the relationship would make the offense better, states Russini.
What went wrong for Jalen Hurts last season?
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles were flying high for most of the last season. However, their season derailed as they went from 10-1 to 11-6 to end the regular season. A former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver discussed the issue concerning Hurts and the Eagles’ offense.
“[They said:] 'We're going to all-out blitz the Philadelphia Eagles because we know they don't have the answer to the test.' They showed that on tape all season long and that's how they left the football season in 2023,” Harry Douglas said on ESPN’s ‘Get Up'.
Jalen Hurts & Co. were unable to respond to the blitz that teams employed against them. However, the fans would hope that with better relations between the Sirianni and Hurts, the Eagles will perform far superiorly this season.
