Jared Goff reveals why he's actively trying to block out Tom Brady's words on Fox broadcasts
Jared Goff is leading the Detroit Lions to be one of the best teams in the 2024 NFL season. The Lions are a serious candidate to win it all this year after falling short to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2023 NFC Championship game.
Goff reflected on the good comments his team has received from seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who beat Goff in the Super Bowl LIII. On Tuesday's Week 9 episode of the Let's Go podcast, he explained that the Lions are trying to block any external noise, either good or bad.
"And so, yeah, anytime he says stuff good, it's, it's always, it's always nice to hear. But to be honest, you try to block it all out, you know, the good and the bad, you know, like, it's a lot of it, a lot of good stuff coming at us right now, and we got to do our best to kind of block that out just the same way as two years ago."
The Lions are one of the hottest teams in the league this campaign, having lost only one game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2. They've been on a tear since that loss, winning five consecutive games that included 42 points against the Seattle Seahawks, 47 against the Dallas Cowboys and 52 against the Tennessee Titans.
Jared Goff and Detroit will face one of their toughest challenges of the season against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Then, they'll go against CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans on primetime.
Dan Campbell sends message to Jared Goff, Lions ahead of divisional duel against Packers
The Lions will try to extend their momentum with a win against the Green Bay Packers (6-2) on Sunday. Lions coach Dan Campbell sent a clear message to Jared Goff and the rest of the team, reminding everybody that this game could be key for their playoff aspirations.
"Shoes. That’s the message," Campbell said. "The right shoes. We’re going to Lambeau, it’s grass, nationally-televised game, 3:25 central, for the division -- it just doesn’t get any better than this. What else do I need to say?"
The Lions have passed many tests this season, and if they come out victorious on Sunday, their Super Bowl case will be strengthened.
