Jason Kelce makes his prediction as NFL playoff race heats up in Week 14
As the season enters Week 14, the playoff race has hit a fever pitch. Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce has now weighed in on the frontrunners.
On Wednesday's episode of "New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce," he predicted that his younger brother, Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills, would dominate the AFC.
Meanwhile, he believes that the NFC, his former team, the Eagles and the Detroit Lions will lead the charge.
"I think it's in the AFC. It's the Chiefs and the Bills, and then in the NFC, Detroit and Philly seem to be the top," Kelce said.
Jason Kelce's brother's team, Kansas City Chiefs is a powerhouse in the backdrop of the 2024 NFL playoff race
The Chiefs (11-1), who have secured the 10th consecutive playoff berth after winning against the Raiders in Week 12, are now vying for the top spot in the AFC.
As per NFL.com, the Chiefs hold a 59% chance to secure the No. 1 seed as opposed to the Buffalo Bills' (10-2) 37% probability.
As Jason Kelce pointed out, in the NFC, the Detroit Lions are rewriting the narrative with an 11-1 record. They have a 64% probability of being the No. 1 seed. However, the battle in the NFC won't be easy for the Lions since strong teams like the Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) and Minnesota Vikings (10-2) will suit up for challenge.
Coming to the bubble teams who are fighting for survival, the list is quite crowded. Indianapolis Colts, with a 28% probability, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with a 57% probability, are striving hard to keep their postseason dreams alive.
In the AFC, the Colts' game against the Broncos on Dec. 15 could dramatically shift the race to the wild card. Meanwhile, in the NFC, the Cardinals, with a 40% probability, and the Rams, with a 17% probability, need to overcome divisional rivals to stay in the race.
The dream of entering the playoffs is slipping away for teams like the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears. On the other hand, the Bengals and the Saints have slim chances. Simply put, they need miracles to reenter the race.
