Jason Whitlock says Brittany Mahomes' Donald Trump support is contributing to her lack of TV coverage
Brittany Mahomes has been a polarizing figure in the NFL world. She has seemingly created a stir by expressing her support for former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump.
It may be why NBC took great lengths to avoid showing her on camera during its coverage of Thursday's Kickoff Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens - and subsequent games.
Speaking on Friday's episode of his "Fearless" podcast, sportscaster Jason Whitlock said:
“I find it very interesting. I feel like nobody is talking about this. I can’t believe they’re not going to show her at some point.”
He continued by calling out game commentators Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth:
“I’m sure [they] wanted no part in having to comment about why she’s been in the news cycle.
He later posted on X:
"Brittany Mahomes got no camera time last night, and I find that interesting. Last year, she was all in the news cycle as it related to her friendship with Taylor Swift, but now that she’s team MAGA, NBC is too scared to show her."
Reason why Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift sat in different places revealed
That reasoning was also popularly assumed to be why Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift, her best friend, who is currently dating star tight end Travis Kelce, were seated in different sections of Arrowhead when the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Baltimore Ravens in Thursday's Kickoff Game.
In contrast to Brittany's recent support for Trump, the multi-platinum pop superstar is reportedly expected to announce her endorsement of Democratic last-minute nominee Kamala Harris soon. But according to a source for The US Sun, such a political divergence is not related to their different seat placement, and there is "zero tension" between the two:
“They are very good friends and they were so excited to go to the game, but they had different plans as it happens sometimes... They felt like they were in a different vibe for the first game of the season.
Brittany preferred for the first game of the season to be in a suite with family and the kid, in a bit more of a ‘low key’ vibe. Taylor wanted more of a ‘party and drinks vibe’ for the game and enjoy it differently."
Meanwhile, TV writer/producer and podcast host Kate Sargeant claims that the denim outfit that Swift wore to the game is an early indicator of her impending political decision:
