Jay Cutler's ex-wife Kristin Cavallari makes feelings clear over ex-Browns QB's DUI arrest

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested last Thursday in Franklin, Tennessee. Cutler was allegedly driving under the influence and was taken into custody, bailing out hours later.

His ex-wife, reality television star Kristin Cavallari, addressed his arrest on this week's episode of her 'Let's Be Honest' podcast. Cavallari, who shares three children, two sons and a daughter with Cutler, said that the episode was recorded before his arrest but she did add a brief statement at the beginning.

She wished her ex-husband well moving forward but also noted that she wouldn't be addressing the matter any further.

“I do, of course, wish Jay the best and hope he gets the help he needs. But that is the only thing I will be saying about it publicly,” Kristin Cavallari said on her podcast.

Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari were married in 2013 when he played for the Chicago Bears. In 2020, they announced that they were divorcing, and their separation was made official in 2022.

What was Jay Cutler charged with?

Jay Cutler has resided in the Nashville, Tennessee area with his family since he retired from the NFL in 2017. Around 5:00 PM EST on Thursday, Cutler's Dodge Ram allegedly hit another vehicle in downtown Franklin, Tennessee.

The former NFL quarterback reportedly asked the other driver not to call the police, even offering them $2,000, but, they did so anyway.

Police arrived and according to reports, it was obvious that the 41-year-old was under the influence of alcohol. He refused field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

When police searched his pickup truck, they found a rifle on the backseat as well as a loaded handgun in the center console. Cutler was charged with DUI, possession of a firearm while under the influence, implied consent and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision.

He was released a few hours later from the Williamson County Criminal Justice Center after posting a $5,000 bond.

Cutler was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the 11th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Broncos before he was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2009.

In March 2017, he was released by the Chicago Bears and a few months later, signed a one-year deal to play with the Miami Dolphins, which was his final season in the NFL.
