Jeffery Simmons pokes fun at Derrick Henry's new look in "purple tutu" following Ravens move

Tennesse Titans running back Derrick Henry departed from the team this off-season while signing a two-year deal worth up to $16 million with the Baltimore Ravens this off-season. The move came as a surprise to some, although Henry was rumored to depart from the team since before the start of last season.

Henry was a big staple to the offense's success during his tenure. It will certainly be different/weird seeing him sport the Purple and Black this upcoming season for the Ravens.

Titans DL Jeffery Simmons was recently on the Rich Eisen Show with host, Rich Eisen and was asked by Eisen how it feels to see Henry in a Ravens uniform. Simmons gave a funny response, saying seeing Henry in his purple 'tutu' makes him realize he's really gone.

“I won’t say weird, but it’s different, Getting on social media and seeing him in his purple tutu [Ravens uniform], he’s really gone. Sometimes it’s just like, yeah, he’s in a Ravens uniform now. When you walk into the building, I believe in Tyjae Spears and Tony Pollard. When Tyjae first came in, I was a big fan of his. I think he and Pollard are going to be a one-two punch for sure.”

Henry was drafted by the Titans in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He's been named to four Pro Bowls, and two All-Pro teams, led the league in rushing yards and touchdowns twice, and is on the verge of cracking 10,000 career rushing yards.

Can the Tennessee Titans make up for losing Derrick Henry this season?

With Derrick Henry leaving the Tennessee Titans this off-season for the Baltimore Ravens, it left a big question mark at who would carry the load this season for the Titans backfield.

Tyjae Spears showed some flashes of potential his rookie season, recording 453 rush yards on 100 carries while scoring two touchdowns. He also had 52 catches for 385 yards and a receiving touchdown, showing he's a versatile running back.

The Titans signed free agent running back Tony Pollard this off-season. After Pollard eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in 2022, the Dallas Cowboys franchise tagged him for the 2023 season, where he recorded his second-straight season of rushing for at least 1,000 yards.

With Henry aging, the Titans' backfield could be a one-two punch between Pollard and Spears for the next few seasons. Their workload together could be more effective now for the Titans than a 30-year-old Derrick Henry.
