Jerry Jones delivers update on his family after ‘explosion'-like car accident before Cowboys-49ers SNF game
Jerry Jones' family added injury to insult just before their team lost to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. The team owner's family was involved in a car accident with a rising barricade outside Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, per Yahoo Sports. Injuries were sustained in the accident.
According to Cowboys writer Jon Machota on X, on October 29, Jones delivered an update on the injuries. Here's what Machota reported about Jones' words.
"It busted all of the frame. Everything. It's tremendous force, like a small explosion had gone off under there. Tremendous. Those were the things that created the injuries. My daughter (Charlotte Jones) wasn't feeling as good as she hoped she would feel yesterday and today. My son (Jerry Jones Jr.), who was concussed, is feeling better."
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn't appear to be inside the car in question.
The Dallas Cowboys went on to lose to the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 30-24. Dallas had the lead in the game going into halftime, but surrendered 21 unanswered points in the third quarter.
The Dallas Cowboys stormed back in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late.
Jerry Jones' family struck by second major car accident in three years
Dak Prescott's general manager is no stranger to car accidents. While he wasn't personally involved in this week's scare, he was involved in a T-bone accident in May 2022.
An alleged video of the incident shows Jones' car attempting to cross an interception before getting hit with force by another car in the side of the vehicle.
The accident took place in Dallas, Texas, per CBS Sports, WFAA and the Associated Press. It also took place in close proximity to Jones' football duties, landing just four days after the 2022 NFL Draft.
Jones went to the hospital after the scary incident for a "brief" stay. However, he appears to have made a full recovery and in 2024, it is as if the accident never took place.
Put simply, the Jones family has plenty of reason to count their blessings after two major car accidents in under three years. In both instances, the Jones family suffered only minor injuries. Cowboys fans can only hope this is their last experience with something like this.
