Jerry Jones draws strange parallels between Tom Brady and Dak Prescott - "He has those qualities"
The Dallas Cowboys believe in quarterback Dak Prescott. While the media criticizes the Dallas quarterback a lot, the team views him differently and thinks he has all the tools to be a successful quarterback for years.
Owner Jerry Jones most recently compared the quarterback to Tom Brady. On Friday, he spoke to reporters at the NFL Combine and thinks Dak will progressively get better throughout his career, the same way Tom Brady did.
“I think just as (Tom) Brady became, in my mind, better and better and more impactful on how they won as he got into his career, I think Dak (Prescott) really has those qualities. I think he can get better.”
As of right now, Prescott has a playoff record of 2-4 and has been named a Pro Bowler twice in his career.
Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones think Dak Prescott can win a Super Bowl for Cowboys
In the same interview on Friday, Jones stated that he's confident of Dak Prescott's abilities and that everything in the Cowboys squad is built around him.
“I’m very strong on Dak. We have, in my mind, a unique person, a unique football player, a unique quarterback. This whole thing reflects the upside that I feel in Dak. The fact that we’re doing this, Mike’s calling the plays, this has everything to do with the positives around Dak. It’s building around Dak."
GM Stephen Jones also said that he thinks Dak could be their franchise quarterback for the next 10 years.
That would also mean the team would have to extend Dak very soon. He's two years into his four-year $160 million contract that he signed in 2021. He has a cap hit of $49 million this season and it can get lowered if he signs a long-term deal.
Prescott has a career record of 61-36, has thrown for 24,943 yards, 166 touchdowns, 65 interceptions and has rushed for 1,642 yards and 26 touchdowns.
While Dak Prescott has never been to a Super Bowl, the team thinks he can carry them to a championship and seems to be fully committed to him for the long-term.
