Jerry Jones reveals the exact date Odell Beckham Jr. is scheduled to meet Cowboys
Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been officially medically cleared and will make his official visits to NFL teams starting this week. The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys are said to be front runners in signing Beckham. While the wide receiver is scheduled to visit East Rutherford, New Jersey this week, Jerry Jones confirmed his visit to Dallas for next week.
While making his weekly appearance on Dallas' 105.3 The Fan radio show on Tuesday, Jones answered questions about the wide receiver's impending visit. Jones confirmed that OBJ will be visiting the Cowboys on Monday, December 5, 2022:
"Yes, we are. And we may have intermittent conversations. Our anticipation is to meet as soon as Monday."
Jones said that he has already spoken with the 30 year old a few times and feels that he is genuine, competitive and confident as a person and a player.
Jones seemed quite confident that the upcoming visit with Odell Beckham Jr. will be successful and that the team will sign him. He seemed to have no fear that a reunion with the New York Giants could be in OBJ's future.
Jerry Jones not concerned about Odell Beckham Jr.'s incident on plane
While confirming OBJ's visit to Dallas next Monday, Jerry Jones was also asked about the recent incident surrounding Beckham Jr. Jones was asked whether the team would reconsider signing Odell Beckham Jr. after the situation on an American Airlines plane. After refusing to put his seatbelt on, OBJ fell in and out of consciousness and was escorted off the plane by law enforcement.
The longtime team owner simply said 'no' and added that Odell Beckham Jr.'s behavior and judgment aren't an issue. He went on to say that there are other players that you would have to worry about, but that OBJ isn't one of them:
“His overall team compatibility, his judgment, his behavior is not an issue with him. It is with many but not with him.”
Jones continues to stand by the fact that he believes that Beckham Jr. would be the perfect fit for the Dallas Cowboys. Especially as they move forward with their plans of making a deep playoff run.
