“Don’t f–k with me” – Jerry Jones gets in Robert Kraft’s face with Cowboys owner making his stance on Roger Goodell clear in explosive NFL owners meet
On Tuesday, all NFL owners, including Jerry Jones, voted together on the possibility of starting negotiations with Roger Goodell for a possible extension of his tenure as the league's commissioner.
The results of the vote were 31-1 in Goodell's favour.
The sole opposition, though, was none other than arguably the most powerful owner in football, Jerry Jones.
That wasn't all.
It appears the vote got a little confrontational as well.
During the meeting, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was involved in a heated exchange with the Dallas Cowboys owner.
As per ESPN, Jerry Jones said this to Robert Kraft:
"Don't f--- with me."
In response to Jerry Jones’ comments, Robert Kraft said:
"Excuse me?"
Jones then proceeded to say, "Don't mess with me," lending the owners meeting a touch of hostility.
This isn't the first time Jones has taken a stand in the fight against someone.
While the majority of the owners are opposing Dan Snyder's ownership of the Washington Commanders, Jones has continued to show his support to his old friend.
As things stand, it seems like Roger Goodell will continue as the commissioner of the NFL, and despite the Cowboys' owner's efforts to hit pause on a fresh contract with renewed terms for Goodell, the league appears primed to rubber-stamp the terms in lieu of the NFL commissioner's work so far.
Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys set to receive huge boost in Week 7
The good news for Dallas Cowboys fans is that star quarterback Dak Prescott is likely to play this Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Prescott hasn't played since Week 1, when he hurt his thumb against the Buccaneers. He's now set to take back his starting spot from Cooper Rush, who held the fort down in his absence.
Prescott will be back at quarterback for the Cowboys, barring any last-minute setbacks.
This will be when the team starts its push for the playoffs, after Cooper Rush did a great job keeping them in the game in the interim.
The Dallas Cowboys are currently 4-2 and well within the mix to seal a playoff spot this season. The journey ahead won't be easy, but with Dak Prescott back, their tough times are likely behind them.
Facing the Detroit Lions in Week 7, the Cowboys are currently a -7.0-point favorite, and it will be interesting to see if they win with Dak Attack back in business.
