Jerry Jones’ snide remark at Bengals gets credence with Cowboys valued at 2.2x Cincinnati’s $4,710,000,000

Jerry Jones has been at the helm of the Dallas Cowboys for more than three decades. In that period, he took a loss-making franchise and made it the highest-valued sports team in the world. As such Jones is allowed to take shots at others and one of his callouts, from a few months ago, got backed up as well.

The Dallas Cowboys once again topped the list of most valuable franchises in the NFL. The America’s Team is valued at $10.32 billion by Sportico. At the bottom of the list is the Cincinnati Bengals, valued at $4.71 billion. Sportico reports that the Cowboys are 2.2 times more highly valued than the Bengals.

In June, while the NFL Sunday Ticket lawsuit was going on at a Los Angeles court, Jerry Jones appeared as a witness. During his remarks defending the NFL’s subscription model, the Cowboys owner/GM remarked, at the expense of the Bengals:

"I am convinced,” said Jones in the court, “I would make a lot more money than the Bengals. I’m completely against each team doing TV deals. It is flawed.”

Jones highlighted that his team would earn far more than the Bengals if a revision of the subscription model is done. Despite that, he wasn’t in favor of the move.

Top 5 most valuable NFL franchises

Every year, before the season starts, Sportico releases the net worth of every franchise in the NFL. This takes into account various revenue streams available to each franchise along with real estate valuations in their ownership. This year’s top 5 teams are:

1. The Dallas Cowboys - $10.32 billion (12% value increased)

2. The Los Angeles Rams - $7.79 billion (12% value increased)

3. The New York Giants - $7.65 billion (9% value increased)

4. The New England Patriots - $7.31 billion (9% value increased)

5. The San Francisco 49ers - $6.86 billion (11% value increased)

Apart from the Rams and the Giants, the top 5 have remained unchanged from last year. In 2023, the Giants were in second place while the Rams were in the third. This year, due to the change in their growth, they have shifted ranks.
