Jerry Rice’s son Brenden dealing with major death in build-up to 2024 NFL Draft
Jerry Rice's son, Brandon, is dealing with a personal tragedy ahead of the 2024 NFL draft. Considered for the third or fourth round of the draft, Rice will be at his friend's funeral while he awaits the call.
According to Ian Rapoport, Brendon Rice traveled to Dallas before the draft, where he'll be a pallbearer and give an obituary speech at his best friend Keith Miller III's funeral. Miller died two weeks ago, with Rice attending the funeral during the draft.
Miller was a wide receiver at the Texas A&M University-Commerce, where he was found dead at his apartment at 23 years old. The university released a statement after Miller's death, who passed away on April 11.
“It is with great sadness that Texas A&M University-Commerce announces the passing of football student-athlete Keith Miller."
Their head coach Clint Dolezel added:
“We are heartbroken by Keith’s unexpected passing. Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate, and student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved him at this very difficult time."
While his cause of death wasn't revealed, Miller was a part of the uni's two-year football program, where he was team captain in 2023. His death was a shock to many, the school reps describing his death as 'sudden.'
A Texas native, Miller also played football for The Colony High School.
