Jets fans panic as Morgan Moses suffers knee injury against Patriots - "The game is over"

The New York Jets were unstoppable on Thursday, dominating their divisional rivals New England Patriots en route to a 24-3 win, largely thanks to two touchdowns by star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But did it come at a great cost?

Just before the third quarter ended, right tackle Morgan Moses was seen lying on the turf in agony after apparently injuring his left knee and ankle:

Fans immediately started panicking and praying on social media:

"Fashanu time…. Prayers up for Mo," one fan declared.
"That field is cursed," another fan said.
"Just because Morgan Moses walked off the field decently doesn’t mean he didn’t tear his ACL or something along those lines," one fan added.

Morgan Moses was proving himself a steady contributor for the Jets before going down injured

One of the major things that contributed to the Jets' 2023 struggles was the offense. Most of the blame went to Zach Wilson, but it could also be argued that he would not have been thrust into that unenviable position had the line denied Leonard Floyd the season-ending sack on Aaron Rodgers.

So during the offseason, much change went to rebuilding the trenches. Morgan Moses was among those men brought in (or more accurately, back, as he had first played for the team in 2021) for that purpose, being traded from the Baltimore Ravens to bolster the right tackle position.

Back in June, he praised the prospect of protecting Rodgers (via NewYorkJets.com):

"He's a coach on the field – the excellence that he demands every day out of guys, and just like the position he puts players in to succeed, right? That's the key, right? It's like, 'I can be a great football player, I can be a great leader, but the difference is, can I make the people better?' Moses said.
"It's refreshing, because then you get in your mind, like, hey, I can do that," he added.

A month and a half later, Moses had this to say about his first day as a member of Gang Green:

“I was like, ‘Aaron said, OK, all right. Let me take my time.’ You need that reminder, especially as a veteran, man, ’cause all you know is work, work, work. You need that reminder. Sometimes, you need to stay out the way from yourself.”

Sitting behind him in the depth chart is Olu Fashanu, who may get called up depending on how severe Moses' injury turns out to be.
