Jets owner Woody Johnson wooed Aaron Rodgers with special Royal British gift

Aaron Rodgers joined the New York Jets after playing 17 years in Green Bay. It was one of the most exciting and talked about trades last year. Rodgers has now revealed that Jets owner Woody Johnson sweetened the deal for him with a royal gift from Britain.

As A-Rod’s relationship with the Green Bay Packers detreated, the Jets were his prime suitors. However, during their meeting at Rodgers’ Malibu mansion last offseason, Johnson did not come empty-handed as per the New York Post.

“He gave me some honey from the queen’s garden,” Rodgers said.

Johnson served as the 66th Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2017 to 2021. He knew just the gift to woo Rodgers during the talks. His unique present left an impression on the four-time NFL MVP.

A-Rod revealed this information in an upcoming biography on him “Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers” by Ian O’Connor. Rodgers regarded the honey from late Queen Elizabeth II’s garden as a “cool” one.

Aaron Rodgers has Woody Johnson’s dream on his shoulders

The last time the Jets went to the playoffs was in 2010. Johnson’s recruitment of Rodgers signifies an effort to change that and bring glory back to MetLife Stadium. Rodgers understands his role as well. He spoke about it to the media before the training camp began.

As far as my beloved Jets fans. I got to meet a great one out in Tahoe,” Rodgers said at the presser. “And he's passionate, just like the rest of you men and women are. And it's going to be an up-and-down season, probably a lot more ups than downs. Just stick with us."
"Obviously, we want to stay healthy. Obviously, we got big dreams. It's been a rough stretch the last 13 years. But the tide is turning.”

While Rodgers is not scheduled to participate in the offseason games, he is preparing to fire up from Week 1. The Jets will face off against the 49ers in their first game in the NFL.
