Jets rookie Sauce Gardner chimes in on Zach Wilson confusion that went viral
Sauce Gardner has cemented himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL in just his rookie season.
The New York Jets CB recently played Madden 23 live against MMG. During the game, Gardner was spotted using Mike White as the quarterback for the Jets instead of Zach Wilson. This gave more fuel to rumors that the Jets locker room doesn't like Wilson.
The Good Morning Football cast was quick to jump on the discussion about it. When the GMFB cast questioned his decision to play with Mike White instead of Zach Wilson, here's what Sauce Gardner replied:
"I never subbed Zach out for Mike. When I got the controller, Mike was already in and he was throwing dots, so there was no need to take him out"
Zach Wilson lost his starting quarterback role to Mike White during the season and is unlikely to be the starting quarterback next season. The New York Jets are in the market for a veteran QB and will likely pursue Aaron Rodgers or Derek Carr.
As for Gardner, he is a vital part of the terrific defensive unit of the Jets and is likely to dominate the NFL for years to come.
Sauce Gardner likely to win D-ROY
When Gardner came out of college in Cincinnati, he was heavily touted to be successful in the NFL. Unsurprisingly, the Jets' star CB has exceeded all the expectations that were set for him.
He is the favorite to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award and also made the First-Team All-Pro this season. He has become a cornerstone for the Jets franchise, and if they get a good quarterback, their team is destined for success.
He has had 51 solo tackles, 24 assists, and 2 interceptions in 17 games this season. Gardner will get better with more experience under his belt and is destined to become the best cornerback in the NFL in the future.
If the Jets are able to land Aaron Rodgers next season, playing alongside him in training will help players like Gardner, Elijah Moore, Garrett Wilson, etc. to get better at their craft.
