"Jim Kelly of losing to Patrick Mahomes": NFL analyst makes eye-opening comparison about Josh AllenĀ
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is already under fire from NFL commentators after losing the AFC Championship to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
The Bills came up just short against Mahomes & Co. inside Arrowhead Stadium, dropping another classic matchup between the quarterbacks, 32-29. For the third straight season, the Chiefs will play the Super Bowl, while Allen and the Bills pack up.
During the Monday morning episode of Breakfast Ball on FS1, NFL analyst Danny Parkins made an interesting comparison between Allen and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.
Parkins said Allen is the "Jim Kelly of losing to Patrick Mahomes," referring to the four Super Bowls Kelly lost during his playing career.
"Josh Allen is the Jim Kelly of losing to Patrick Mahomes," Parkins said. "Jim Kelly, 0 for 4 in the Super Bowl. Josh Allen, 0 for 4 in the playoffs against Patrick Mahomes. I know he didn't play a perfect game, but he is such an incredible player.
"It's just he's got to be like. "I was just born at the wrong time." I felt terrible for Josh Allen. He's got to just be thinking, "what more do I have to do? I'm one of the great playoff quarterbacks ever, and I just can't beat this guy."
Josh Allen and the Bills can't get past the Patrick Mahomes roadblock
Josh Allen is 0-4 against Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs.
While Allen himself has been a generational talent on the football field, Mahomes has been extremely dominant in the league during that same time, preventing Allen from reaching his first Super Bowl appearance.
Allen and the Bills continue to keep games close but have yet to punch their ticket to the big game with Mahomes standing in their way. As the Chiefs prepare to face the Eagles in the Super Bowl in New Orleans in the coming weeks, Allen and the Bills will use the offseason to recover and figure out what it will take to go to the next level and eventually stop Mahomes & Co.
