Jimmy Garoppolo's brother sends Kyle Shanahan 2-word taunt as 49ers HC fails to mastermind TNF win
Billy Garoppolo, the brother of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, took a shot at Kyle Shanahan following their 12-6 loss at home to the LA Rams.
The 49ers fell to 6-8 on the season. San Francisco has odds of +7500 to make the playoffs which implies a 1.3% chance.
After the 49ers loss, Garoppolo posted on his Instagram story taking aim at Shanahan.
"Offensive guru," Garoppolo posted on his Instagram story with two crying laughing faces.
Garoppolo appears to have no love lost for Shanahan after his brother played for him. Jimmy Garoppolo played for the 49ers from 2017 until 2022 while Shanahan was the team's head coach since 2017.
However, with Garoppolo on the roster, the team drafted Trey Lance and Brock Purdy which signaled the end of his tenure. He signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and is now the Rams' backup quarterback.
Garoppolo went 38-17 with the 49ers throwing for 13,599 yards 82 touchdowns and 42 interceptions.
Kyle Shanahan frustrated with 49ers offensive play against Rams
Following the 49ers loss to the LA Rams on Thursday, Kyle Shanahan was frustrated with his team's offense.
The 49ers lost 12-6 and didn't score a touchdown, or allow one either. But, Shanahan says the offense needed to be better as that should have been a game they won.
"Not good enough. I thought we played good enough to win, obviously, on defense and special teams, but we just definitely didn't play good enough on offense. I thought the main thing, didn't get the run game going, which was huge," Shanahan said, via 49erswebzone.
"I thought that was a difference in the two offenses. They got the run game going better than we did and we had a couple opportunities there in the pass game that, I think, could have led to 14 points. Didn't have a lot of them, but we definitely had a couple and didn't make those and that's what it led to."
The 49ers are 6-8 on the year and likely need to win out and get some help to make the playoffs.
San Francisco will go on the road to play the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.
