Joe Burrow reveals how Tom Brady's advice helped Bengals QB deal with fame and relationships

Joe Burrow's 2023 campaign ended unceremoniously after he suffered a ligament tear in his left wrist and was forced to sit out of the Cincinnati Bengals' final seven games of the season. He had plenty of time to think and ponder about the injury and answer questions about how he'd fare after recovering from it.

Luckily, he had Tom Brady to help him navigate through the trials and tribulations that come with dealing with it.

During an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, the host asked him about whether he ever reaches out to the seven-time Super Bowl champion. Joe Burrow responded,

"I talked to Tom several times this offseason and he's a good resource for me... We talk a lot about how to handle off-the-field situations this year and I'll keep that between us. But he gave me good insight about how to handle certain things outside the facility and how to handle those to best facilitate your success." [From 0:57 to 1:56]

When Eisen asked whether he asked Brady about how to deal with fame and the challenges that come with it, the Bengals star replied,

"Fame, friends, family, relationships. I think that's one of the harder parts of doing this is how you handle those situations. So whenever I can pick somebody's brain about how they handled it, I think Tom handled it pretty dang well. When I'm in those situation I try to ask questions and take anything that I can to help myself." [From 2:03 to 2:36]

Brady had an extremely public separation from his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen in 2022, which took on a life of its own after the quarterback unretired and returned for one final year. The seven-time Super Bowl champion weathered that storm and led the Buccaneers to another division title.

Joe Burrow opens up about relationship with Patrick Mahomes

Eisen also asked Joe Burrow about whether there was any animosity between him and Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes after their rather tame interaction at the end of the incredible back-and-forth battle between their teams in Week 2.

The Bengals quarterback played down suggestions of any issues between the two, saying:

"Well, we had talked to each other before the game. After a game like that, not much to say. I got a lot of respect for him, I think he has a lot of respect for me. Sometimes you talk to guys, sometimes you don't. We had seen each other before the game so no big deal."

Joe Burrow and Cincinnati lost 26-25 and fell to 0-2 after Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker hit a buzzer-beating 51-yard field goal. The Bengals will look to open their account in the win column on Monday night against the Washington Commanders at Paul Brown Stadium.
