Joe Burrow drops bold take on NFL's top QBs as Bengals star eyes major comeback in 2024: "I don't like lists"
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow became the highest-paid quarterback and player in NFL history right before last season, as he inked a five-year, $275 million contract extension with the Bengals.
In his four seasons in the NFL, he's quickly turned the Bengals franchise around, bringing them to the playoffs twice, while making it to the Super Bowl during the 2021-22 season. He broke the NFL record for pass completions in January 2023, completing 68 percent of his passes.
Complex Sports linked up with the Bengals star quarterback this week for an interview and asked Burrow many questions. One of the questions was who he thinks are the top-five quarterbacks in the NFL.
Burrow replied:
"I don't like lists like that because I feel like it takes away from certain people's accomplishments, and there's not just a top five of all time. There's not just a top five in the game right now, and it can change week to week too... I want to be on the field for all the games, I know I'm going to play well when I'm out there. I'm at that point in my career where I've seen enough ball, and I know myself that I can go out there and play as well as anybody in the game."
Joe Burrow looks to play every game this season for the Cincinnati Bengals
In the same interview with Complex, Burrow talked about his health and how big of a year this upcoming season is for him and the Bengals. In his four seasons in the NFL, he's only been able to play in two full seasons and has had some serious injuries. He has torn his ACL and PCL and suffered damage in his MCL and meniscus.
Burrow suffered a torn wrist ligament in 2023, and that ruled him out for the season after 10 games.
“I want to be on the field for all the games," Burrow said. "I know I'm going to play well when I'm out there. I'm at that point in my career where I've seen enough ball and I know myself that I can go out there and play as well as anybody in the game.”
Burrow has a career record of 29-22-1 as the Bengals' starting quarterback.
The Bengals finished in last place in the AFC North division last season, which is widely viewed as the toughest division in the NFL.
Do you think Burrow will play a full season this year and bring the Bengals back to the playoffs?
