Jordan Love builds his perfect 2024 NFL QB, leaves out Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow

Jordan Love is coming off an impressive first season as the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He completed 64 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns and helped the Packers win a playoff game.

During the offseason leading up to his second year as a starter, Love was recently interviewed by Goat Farm Media at one of his workouts. He was asked to build the perfect quarterback by using attributes from different players in the position. His responses were interesting, especially considering he left out Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Here's Love's answer for creating the perfect quarterback:

  • Arm: Josh Allen
  • Accuracy: Matthew Stafford
  • IQ: Aaron Rodgers
  • Legs: Lamar Jackson

It's hard to argue with his choices of Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, as Allen has arguably the strongest arm in the NFL and Jackson is one of the best rushing quarterbacks of all time. Aaron Rodgers is a four-time NFL MVP, so choosing his former Packers' teammate for IQ is fair, but picking Matthew Stafford for accuracy is debatable.

While Stafford has completed 63 percent of his career passes, including 66 percent with the Los Angeles Rams, he has also thrown 180 interceptions in 206 games. This is the most interceptions by any active player in the NFL and the 43rd-most of all time.

What made Love's picks so interesting is not necessarily the players he selected, but more so those he left out. There was no mention of Mahomes and Burrow, arguably the two best current quarterbacks in the NFL. It's also important to note that Love was told he could pick any quarterback from NFL history, so he also left out legends like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Regardless, the "perfect quarterback" he created would most likely be a superstar if one player had those attributes. Love can now focus on building his own stardom, though that may not happen unless he gets a new contract first.

Jordan Love contract dispute is heating up

Jordan Love finds himself in a difficult situation with the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2024 NFL season. He has only played one season as a starter, but he was spectacular. Being Rodgers' backup quarterback to begin his career would have helped, but now there is a potential issue regarding his contract situation.

Love is entering the final year of his current contract, despite only starting for one season. He wants an extension before the season starts, as many players do in this situation, especially quarterbacks. The Packers have appeared hesitant to give him an extension so far, but with training camp starting this week, they will need to make a decision. According to general manager Brian Gutekunst, via Sports Illustrated, Love will not practice until he gets a new deal.
