Jordan Love toys with idea of setting up QB University with Peyton Manning following Travis Kelce's TEU success
Jordan Love belongs to the new generation of quarterbacks coming into their own in the NFL. As such, the Packers star is ready to take on the big challenge of organizing a QB University of his own.
The Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, along with fellow tight ends of the league George Kittle and Greg Olsen, set up TEU in 2021. The program offers a camp for all the TEs of the league to assemble and learn from each other.
TEU has gone from strength to strength and even raised $1 million for charity this year.
Appearing on Bleacher Report’s AMA, the Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love floated a similar idea for the QBs of the league. Love was inspired by Travis Kelce who said:
“I don't know why we don't have a QBU yet. But the Tight End University was started I think a couple of years ago, I wanna say Travis Kelce runs it, and a couple other guys but it looks like an awesome event that they do every year, bringing a bunch of TEs out from the NFL and college guys too.
“I don't know why the QBs haven't done it yet. I think we might need to look into doing that.”
Determined to set up a QBU of his own, Jordan Love highlighted players that he would invite for his inaugural camp.
“On my invite list, I'm gonna invite all my guys, CJ Stroud, Justin Fields, and Aaron Rodgers obviously is going to have an invite,” said Love. “And I will invite Peyton Manning, because he invited me to his camp, and Eli Mannings, they invited me to the Mannings' passing academy, so gotta bring them out, show those guys the love.”
Love’s hypothetical QBU lineup would feature a mix of young guns, retired players and legends of the game, including Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.
Jordan Love has come into his own
After being picked by the Packers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jordan Love was under the shadow of Aaron Rodgers. During his first three years, Love started only one game. However, last season, Rodgers went to the New York Jets and Love came into his own.
He took the Packers deep into the playoffs, despite expectations from the team being contrary. The fans would hope for Love to go one step further this year as they begin their campaign against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 6.
