Jordan Palmer claims Patrick Mahomes is going from Allen Iverson to Steve Nash after Chiefs superstar’s heroics in Raiders thriller
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL since he took over as the team's starter in that position during the 2018 season.
He has won the league MVP, is a Super Bowl winner, and has one of the best arms in football today. He recently led his Chiefs to victory after they trailed the Las Vegas Raiders 17-0 on Monday Night Football.
Former NFL quarterback Jordan Palmer joined The Herd with Colin Cowherd and heaped high praise on Mahomes. After his come-from-behind performance against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night, Palmer compared Mahomes to Allen Iverson and Steven Nash.
"Patrick coming into the league, he's an MVP, he goes to a Super Bowl, he wins a Super Bowl, and he makes these no look passes and these unbelievable plays. But what we're seeing right now is him transition from being an Allen Iverson type score to a Steve Nash type distributor.
"And just look at the last game when Travis Kelce had four touchdowns the other day. He had a one-yard touchdown. He had a two-yard touchdown. He had a four-yard touchdown, right, and an eight-yard touchdown."
Palmer added that Patrick Mahomes is a great distributor of targets such as Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith-Schuster and that they do a good job even when contested.
"I mean, what do great point guards do? [They're] great passers, great distributors of the basketball, they pass the ball to somebody on their team, who has an uncontested high percentage shot, right?
"And I think what we're seeing with Pat, and the evolution of the offense, and Kelce and the pieces around him, Juju is going to be a bigger piece as the season goes on, is people who understand the game. And they can manufacture high percentage, uncontested meaning not contested catches. And we're seeing the evolution of that.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will host Buffalo Bills this Sunday
Week 6 of the NFL season features a showdown between Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Buffalo Bills. Each team enters Week 6 with a 4-1 record and first place in their division, and the Bills are currently a 2.5 point road favorite.
In the last game these two teams played against one another, it was one of the greatest of all time. The Chiefs beat the Bills 42-36 in overtime in the divisional round of the playoffs.
Both the Chiefs and Bills are viewed as Super Bowl contenders, and it would be no surprise if one of these teams represented the AFC in this season's title match.
