Josh Allen downplays missing Stefon Diggs after WR's Texans move

Heading into the 2024 season, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will be without one of his favorite targets from the last five years. The team traded away Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs, along with a sixth-round pick and a fifth-round pick, to the Houston Texans in exchange for a second-round pick.

The trade was one of the biggest moves of the off-season, with the Bills losing their top receiver from last season. The team also lost its second-leading wide receiver, Gabe Davis, to the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency.

On August 7, Allen was asked by the local Buffalo media if he missed Diggs, and he replied:

"Stef’s a great player, and what he brought to this team was special. I don't know if I'd say miss. He was a guy that was reliable. You can, look to he's going to have the juice each and every day. I'm sure he's bringing over there in Houston. So definitely, yeah, you can't say that you don't miss that. But I am very happy with what we got going on here and how hard the guys have been working."

Josh Allen will be without his two leading receivers from last season, as Diggs was the team's top receiver for the past four seasons. After losing Davis as well, the Bills signed veteran free agents Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Samuel had over 60 catches and over 600 yards in each of the last two campaigns with the Washington Commanders. Hollins had 18 catches for 251 yards and no touchdowns last season with the Atlanta Falcons. Valdes-Scantling had 21 receptions for 315 yards and one touchdown last regular season and also scored a touchdown in the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory.

The Bills also added wide receiver Keon Coleman from the second round of this year's draft. The 6-foot-3 215-pound rookie is expected to emerge as the team's number-one wide receiver.
