“Josh Allen is getting screwed”: Mike Florio pushes Bills QB to put pressure on franchise following Trevor Lawrence’s $275,000,000 contract

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been one of the more successful quarterbacks in the NFL in the past few seasons. While he hasn't won a Super Bowl, Allen has led the Bills to the playoffs in five of his six NFL seasons.

Allen has been one of the most talked-about topics since Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence signed a five-year extension.

Recently, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio was a guest on "Pardon My Take" and said that Lawrence's contract shows the Buffalo Bills quarterback isn't getting paid enough. Florio said:

"Josh Allen is getting screwed because Allen doesn't have any devices in his contract that would force them to pay him more. He's at $45 million. The two best quarterbacks in the NFL are at $45 million per year.
"And now we've got guys at $55 million per year, at some point Allen needs to be saying to the Bills, we've got to be doing something about this because all due respect to Trevor Lawrence, he's not Josh Allen."

Florio said that while Trevor Lawrence is a good quarterback, he hasn't done what Allen has.

Where does Josh Allen's contract currently rank among the highest paid QBs?

Trevor Lawrence's new five-year, $275 million contract now ties him with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow as the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL. When Lawrence's contract ends in 2026, he will make $55 million a year, which shocked some fans considering he has a 20-30 record in his career.

According to Spotrac, Josh Allen will make $43 million in 2024, which currently ranks him behind eight other quarterbacks on the list.

Just ahead of him are three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, who will make $45 million this season. Jared Goff, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray and Deshaun Watson are all ahead of Allen on the list.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback is under contract through the 2028 NFL season; however, he does have an opt-out option after the 2025 NFL season.
