Julian Edelman blames Tom Brady as Aaron Rodgers faces heat after Jets' 4-game loss streak

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman noted how Tom Brady made life more difficult for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets with a single move.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion made a surprising move when he decided to part ways with the Patriots in 2020 and find a new challenge in Tampa Bay.

Talking with Colin Cowherd on Monday's edition of 'The Herd', Edelman mentioned that Brady found success with a new team after spending several seasons with one. This, he believes, led to fans and analysts hoping that Rodgers would do the same after being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Jets.

"And you got to blame Tom Brady for this, because, I mean, he goes over to Tampa Bay and wins the Super Bowl. Now everyone thinks they could do and then the Rams go up two years later and do the same kind of thing. So, this is kind of a new wrinkle in the league where teams are trying to buy the Super Bowl," Edelman said.

After spending 20 years with New England and winning six Super Bowls in nine appearances, Brady joined the Bucs ahead of the 2020 season. He succeeded in his very first campaign with the Buccaneers.

Led by Bruce Arians, Todd Bowles and Brady, Tampa Bay dismantled Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. This meant they won their first Super Bowl since 2003 and Brady's seventh title.

When Rodgers was traded to the Jets, he carried the same expectations, but after a first season that only lasted four snaps, the team was forced to pause their aspirations.

Aaron Rodgers, Jets dropped fourth consecutive game after loss to Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers worsened Aaron Rodgers' Jets' situation after a statement win on 'Sunday Night Football' at Acrisure Stadium. The Jets have now lost four straight games, dropping to 2-5 after Week 7.

They beat the Patriots 24-3 in Week 3 before losing 10-9 to the Broncos, 23-17 to the Vikings, 23-20 to the Buffalo Bills and then 37-15 to the Steelers.

Rodgers completed 24 passes on 39 attempts for 276 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the latest match.

The Jets will face the last team they beat, the Patriots, in Week 8. Their calendar will look easier after they clash with CJ Stroud and the Texans in Week 9, but if they don't make adjustments, that won't matter. The next weeks would be crucial to see where this team stands and if Aaron Rodgers can turn the season around.
