Julian Edelman shares insights on bringing back Patriots routine in new collab with Rob Gronkowski
Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was a guest on Friday's episode of the "Pardon My Take" podcast. Edelman was asked about his new project with former teammate Rob Gronkowski — a podcast named "Dudes on Dudes with Gronk and Jules."
Edelman then shared that they planned to bring back a routine from their days with the Patriots.
“It's just an excuse for me and Rob to hit the hot tub together and do like a sauna session, and then like, talk for an hour," Edelman said. "And it's been fun. We've literally tried to bring the same routine that we did together for nine years in New England.”
Edelman also recalled how he and Gronkowski discussed various topics between team meetings, some of which were random. They follow a similar concept with their new show, which premiered on Oct. 15.
Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski share their thoughts on new podcast
Each episode will feature three sports figures, with Edelman and Gronkowski discussing their unique traits. Some of their stories could bring back memories and highlight memorable performances, and they'll also talk about some of their most memorable locker room moments.
Edelman and Gronkowski were two of Tom Brady’s favorite targets. They contributed to three Super Bowl wins out of five appearances, developing a strong bond that led to their podcast collaboration.
In a press release on Oct. 14, Gronkowski expressed his excitement about creating another show with his former teammate.
"I'm pumped to join Nuthouse Sports and share our new show 'Dudes on Dudes' with the world,” Gronkowski said. “Jules and I have been through it all together and I had so much fun when I did 'Games with Names.' I was like, ‘What the heck, why don’t we make a show together?’”
Edelman had a different explanation for the show.
“People are going to be surprised by how smart this show is," Edelman said. "I also think they’ll be surprised by how dumb it is too. It’s not rocket surgery.”
Fans can listen to their podcast on all major audio platforms with new episodes every Thursday.
