Neither Haason Reddick nor the New York Jets are showing any signs of budging from their positions. The Jets have one of the best defenses in the league right now. But with Aaron Rodgers still trying to find his footing with the team's offense, the defense needs to shoulder more responsibility. Haason Reddick could've been a big part of that.

Reddick has already missed the Jets' two opening games, and he's going to miss the Thursday night game against the New England Patriots as well. His penalty and unearned salary for the missing games is nearing $8 million. Amid this, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a cryptic message.

What is the contract stalemate that Haason Reddick is involved in?

While Reddick hasn't played a single snap for the Jets, he is holding out in the hope of landing a new contract. Things got messy in August when he requested that the Jets trade him if they couldn't resolve the contract situation.

But the team made it clear that they were going to do no such thing. GM Joe Douglas said via a statement regarding Haason Reddick:

"We have informed Haason that we will not trade him."

While holdouts have helped CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk secure blockbuster deals, the same has not happened for Haason Reddick yet.

The Jets also don't seem too keen on giving him an extension, as they aren't any closer to signing a deal two games into the 2024 season. It remains to be seen how long the two continue to play a game of "Who'll blink first?"
