Keenan Allen Injury Update: Should fantasy managers be concerned about Bears WR?

In March, the Chicago Bears sent a fourth-round pick to the Los Angeles Chargers to acquire Keenan Allen to bolster their wide receiving unit. The 11-year veteran has been among the most consistent players in the league since his rookie season.

However, Allen has only played four full seasons, making him a slightly risky pick in Fantasy Football. Managers who drafted him received a scare last week when he missed practice with a foot injury.

With the Bears' season-opener against the Tennessee Titans only six days away, fantasy managers with Allen on their roster have been patiently waiting for a positive update about the wide receiver's status for Week 1. However, they can breathe a sigh of relief.

Keenan Allen Injury Update: Bears WR back in practice

Keenan Allen was spotted on the practice field ahead on Monday and reportedly went through a light session with the team.

General Manager Ryan Poles informed reporters last week that the veteran wide receiver's absence from practice was due to a minor foot issue caused by a cleat issue.

Allen did not seem to be in any discomfort as he went through the practice drills. He should be available for the Bears' Week 1 clash against the Titans at SOldier Field on Sunday.

Should fantasy managers be worried about Keenan Allen?

For now, fantasy managers with Keenan Allen on their roster seem to have nothing to worry about. The franchise will undoubtedly take utmost care to ensure the wide receiver is fit to play and give quarterback Caleb Williams an elite option in the passing game.

However, it's worth noting that the rookie QB and veteran WR did not showcase much chemistry in preseason. Allen was targeted only once in two starts and did not catch the pass. He's short of reps and hasn't shown anything to suggest that he'd be a massive factor in the Bears' offensive scheme.

But his lack of involvement could be by design. Offensive coordinator Shane Waldron could be holding his cards close to his chest to ensure they can use the wide receiver more effectively in the season opener and beyond.

The Bears have a slew of stellar receivers and Allen could become an afterthought for opposing defensive coordinator, allowing him to have a massive impact from the slot.

The veteran is coming off an excellent campaign where he caught a career-high 108 passes for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns. He should have a productive season in what is projected to be a high-octane offense in Chicago. It remains to be seen how he plays in his debut season with his new team.
