"Keep your b**thole tight" - Taylor Lewan gives NSFW advice for Patriots players after Mike Vrabel hiring
On Sunday, the New England Patriots announced the hiring of former Tennessee Titans head coach and franchise icon Mike Vrabel as Jerod Mayo's replacement. The three-time Super Bowl champion spent eight seasons with the team and was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in 2023.
Former Titans star Taylor Lewan congratulated Vrabel on landing one of the most coveted jobs before firing a warning to Patriots players that they'll have to adjust to his demands and learn quickly that he settles for nothing but the best. In a video posted on X, he said:
“You need to understand that s–t is going to be really hard for a little bit,” Lewan said. “And it’s going to be OK. But just know, you’re about to go into hell for a little bit."
Lewan quipped that Vrabel will often remind them of his resume in team meetings and they'll have to get acclimatized to it but it will all be worth it if they follow his instructions:
"He’s going to tell you how many years he played in the league. And he’s going to reference it forever. Not a bad thing, boys. I’m telling you, it’s going to work out. I was a part of it... But, keep your butthole tight in those team meeting rooms. You have got to keep your butt hole tight. Because he’s going to have guys stand up, ‘Who’s this guy? Who’s that guy?’”
Will Compton shares hilarious Mike Vrabel impersonation
Taylor Lewan wasn't the only former Titan to give Patriots players an insight into what to expect from their new head coach. Retired linebacker Will Compton reposted his hilarious impersonation of what a Mike Vrabel speech during team meetings sounds like. In the clip from 2018, he said:
“Hey, hey, listen. Let’s stop f**king laughing. It’s not about feeling great. It’s about being great. I know you’re f**king hurting. I was f**king hurting. Twenty-eight years in the league, I was f**king hurting.”
Compton's incredible four-minute-long impersonation had his Titans teammates in stitches. However, it was only funny because it was a near-perfect imitation of their head coach.
However, as funny as it was when the linebacker did it, the mood, as Lewan explained, was opposite when Vrabel gave the speech. The Patriots need a culture reboot after finishing with a losing record for three straight seasons and four out of the last five and the former Titans head coach seems like the perfect man for the job.
