Kendrick Bourne recruits Cooper Kupp to Patriots amid $80,100,000 WR's uncertain future with Rams
Cooper Kupp's future with the LA Rams is up in the air and people have started trying to lure him away from SoFi Stadium. New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne took to social media to try to recruit the $80,100,000 wideout, promising him a lot of attention on Tuesday.
"Come to NE @CooperKupp we’ll take care of u lol all the targets!" Bourne tweeted.
The Patriots' biggest need coming into the offseason is quality wide receivers. They have an up-and-coming quarterback in Drake Maye, but the soon-to-be second-year playmaker will need more tools to work with if he wants to take his game to new heights.
Cooper Kupp caught 67 passes for 710 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Kupp is under contract for the next two years and is up to take nearly $30 million in cap space in 2025.
However, if the Rams release him, they'd save about two-thirds of that amount. The Patriots could send the No. 77 (via Falcons) and No. 217 (via Titans) overall picks to try to unlock negotiations with the Rams.
With around $131.6 million in cap space, New England would be fine taking Cooper Kupp's contract. Before the Patriots, he was linked with the Washington Commanders.
After the season finished, he talked about his future, making it clear he still has a lot in the tank.
"I feel like I've got a lot of good football left in me. I'll be playing football next year. That much I know," Kupp said.
Tyreek Hill joins Cooper Kupp on list of potential Patriots targets
In addition to Cooper Kupp, the New England Patriots have been mentioned in the same sentence as Tyreek Hill, the former Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs.
After a rocky 2024 NFL season, Hill revealed his time with the Miami Dolphins had ended and that he was trying to find a new challenge in the league.
An anonymous NFL coordinator told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that the Patriots could make a move for the speedster.
"This one is wild. But Hill's displeasure in Miami is out there after his Week 18 comments, and the Patriots hope to be on the brink of contention soon enough under new coach Mike Vrabel. ... (P)erhaps a package including a Day 2 pick would get a trade done," Fowler wrote.
Cooper Kupp showed good chemistry with Puka Nacua for two years, and if the Patriots put the right pieces around him, he could make an impact.
