He was joined by Buffalo Underdogs Rescue, Nickel City Canine Rescue, Awesome Paws Rescue, the Ten Lives Club, and the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter to support the event.
The event was also attended by Bills star QB Josh Allen, who was present with his girlfriend, Hailee Steinfeld. The couple walked around, interacting with dog lovers and puppies while supporting the cause and promoting adoptions. Allen even FaceTimed one of his teammates' moms to encourage adopting a puppy.
Attendees had the opportunity to purchase Bills merchandise, game tickets, custom beer cans, and more.
Khalil Shakir has an undying love for dogs
Shakir’s love for dogs is well-documented on the Buffalo Bills’ official website. He has a Golden Retriever at home named Penny. Fans can watch the video of Shakir playing with Penny, as the 25-year-old describes her as a “little ball of energy” who doesn’t know when to stop.
Besides Penny, Shakir also adopted another pup earlier this year at an event organized by Nickel City Canine Rescue. The pup was named Daphnee, later renamed Missy. This event was also organized by the Buffalo Bills and attended by Shakir’s wife, Sayler.
