Kirby Smart shared excitement for Ladd McConkey's future with Chargers

McConkey was drafted 34th overall by the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The two-time national champion was a key part of the Georgia Bulldogs team and served as a leader on and off the field.

His former head coach, Kirby Smart took time to celebrate McConkey's draft selection. He credited McConkey's 'impact' on the program and the type of leader he was for the success he had at Georgia. He also expressed how excited he was to see McConkey play for the Chargers next season.

"Congrats @laddmcconkey02 !! So excited to watch you be a part of the @chargers. You’re such a great young man & I’m thankful for your time in Athens. You meant so much to this team, school & community. Always grateful for your impact on this program. GO DAWGS !!”-Kirby Smart

The Chargers drafted McConkey after the departures of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams—key members of the team's offense—in March. With Justin Herbert under a long-term contract and the arrival of new head coach Jim Harbaugh, there is no doubt that Los Angeles will be concentrating on the offense in 2024.
