Laith Wallschleger weighs in on which role was tougher to play between Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce
After portraying Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski in the FX show "American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez," fans will get to see Hollywood actor Laith Wallschleger portray Travis Kelce in the upcoming Lifetime movie, "Christmas in the Spotlight."
Based on the buzzing romance of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, "Christmas in the Spotlight" is going to be a tough project for Wallschleger. On today's episode of the "Up & Adams" podcast, the actor was interviewed by host Kay Adams and guest Gronkowski. Wallschleger was asked by Gronk if it was more difficult to play Travis Kelce or himself.
"It was definitely harder to play you because technically I play [fictional character in Christmas movie], who it's based on the story. So I get a little creative license and you get to see a little more of me in there. But you, you were a tall task, my friend, very tough."
Moving forward, Kay Adams asked Laith Wallschleger if he’s ready for Swifties to watch his upcoming movie. Wallschleger expressed a hint of fear about the Swifties when he said:
"The Swifties, as lovely as they are, they can be ruthless. So I have to be prepared. Hopefully, I do 'em justice."
Rob Gronkowski praised Laith Wallschleger's performance in American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez
Last week, Rob Gronkowski made an appearance on the "Up & Adams" show alongside Laith Wallschleger. After taking a friendly jab at the actor, the Patriots legend praised Wallschleger for his outstanding performance in "American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez."
Gronkowski said about the performance:
"It was definitely over the top. You want to know a fun fact about that clip? That is my good friend Laith who is playing me there. I've known him for about 14 years, and he definitely went over the top, and I feel like it just fit the show perfectly, though."
"Especially with all the other characters and coach Belichick and just seeing Robert Kraft in this show as well.... Definitely like I said, over the top, a little exaggerated, that's for sure, but it played the part in how this show was produced."
In the upcoming "Christmas in the Spotlight" movie, Laith Wallschleger will be playing the role of a character named Drew, inspired by Travis Kelce. The Taylor Swift-inspired character named Bowyn will be played by Jessica Lord.
