Lamar Jackson addresses illness record issue after missing 4 training days
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been dealing with an illness issue that has left him sidelined in early training camp. The two-time MVP was forced to miss four practices this summer due to being ill, and it's been a recurring event.
Since being drafted by the Ravens in 2018, Jackson has missed at least one practice each season due to an illness. In total, he's missed 12 practices due to illness-related issues.
After returning to the field and speaking to the media for the first time this off-season, Jackson said he's "good" and that it's just a "bug" that comes and goes.
"Man, I'll be thinking that sometimes because, at Louisville, I never got sick. I never was sick, but it comes and goes... You really never know when the bug hits you, but I got hit with a bug. I'm good now."
Lamar Jackson injury history: Has he ever missed a game due to an illness-related injury?
Lamar Jackson has had a handful of injuries in his seven-year career that have forced him to sit out of some games. However, an illness-related injury has never forced the dual-threat quarterback to miss a game.
Jackson's injuries started to pile up more recently in his career. In 2022, a PCL sprain forced him to miss the final six games of the season, including the team's wildcard game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
In 2021, Jackson suffered an ankle sprain against the Cleveland Browns and missed the rest of the season.
Lamar Jackson's playoff struggles: What is the two-time MVP's post-season record?
Lamar Jackson has made it to the post-season four different times with the Baltimore Ravens. In his first two post-seasons, in 2018 and 2019, Jackson went 0-1, losing in the wildcard round each time.
He made it back to the playoffs in 2020, securing his first playoff win as a starter against the Tennessee Titans. The Ravens missed the playoffs in 2021 but made it back in 2022. Jackson didn't play due to an injury.
Jackson and the Ravens were the number one seed in the AFC this past season and earned a first-round bye. In the second round, the Ravens defeated the Houston Texans before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
In his career, Lamar Jackson's playoff record is 2-4.
