Lamar Jackson breaks silence on why he shut down Marlon Humphrey's live stream
Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens finally earned their first win of the season, and it was in hostile territory, beating the Dallas Cowboys at the AT&T Stadium and keeping their season alive. But a weird moment after the game led to a bit of controversy.
Marlon Humphrey started an Instagram live and asked the quarterback what he wanted to say about their first win, and he replied with "We shouldn't even be live right now". The controversy that was created about this phrase led to Lamar explaining his meanings in a press conference:
"You know, Marlo is going to be Marlo. I just didn't want the camera on me at the time because, and he knows this, I'm all about winning. I like to - I don't want to say win in style - but when we're up, I just want to punish people. I want to get out there with a dub, clear-minded. I didn't want the camera on me. That's my brother. He's going to do what he's going to do, but it's like, 'Man, now right now. I'm a little ticked of with how the game went."
The Ravens held a huge advantage over the Cowboys at some point of the game, but Dallas almost came back. Although they were able to hang onto the lead, the fact that it took so long to close it out certainly didn't help the quarterback's mood afterward.
What's Lamar Jackson earning currently?
Lamar and the Baltimore Ravens agreed on a contract extension right before the 2023 draft with the player signing a five-year, $260 million contract, with $185 million guaranteed.
Jackson, who does not have an agent, negotiated the contract himself with the franchise. Many NFL teams decide to lock up their star quarterbacks as soon as possible, but the Ravens waited longer than usual to extend Lamar. Still, when he finally put pen to paper, the numbers were huge.
With a 1-2 start, the responsibility over his shoulders is bigger than ever, especially as they are looking for one step further than 2023. Being focused on wins instead of Instagram lives is certainly a good start.
