Lamar Jackson rips helmet off as Ravens WR’s antics lead to frustration boiling over
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson set a career-high in passing yards in 2023 with 3,678. Jackson looks to build on the success he had in the passing game this season, however, he recently had issues connecting with one of his receivers during practice.
Jackson attempted a pass to Nelson Agholor and the wide receiver missed the wide-open attempt. The 27-year-old quarterback was visibly upset after the missed play and according to Ravens reporter Kyle Phoenix, he ripped his helmet off and threw it to the ground.
"Lamar Jackson’s first deep ball of practice was to a wide open Nelson Agholor, who dropped it. Jackson ripped his helmet it off and tossed it to the ground in frustration. Agholor dropped a second deep ball later in practice and Jackson was expressing frustration again," Phioenix posted on X.
According to the post, Jackson attempted another pass to Agholor during Sunday's practice and he dropped it again. Jackson's frustration continued as he was unable to connect with the veteran wide receiver.
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson slimmed down ahead of 2024 season
Lamar Jackson focused on his physical fitness this past offseason. The 2023 NFL MVP told reporters that he saw a video of himself the last two seasons and thought he looked overweight.
Jackson said he now weighs 200 pounds, 15 less than he did last season and 30 fewer pounds than he did in 2022. He added that while he was 'in shape,' he felt that he still had some weight to lose.
"I was fat, to me. I felt like I was fat. I just saw a video from two years ago [against] the Browns, and I looked out of shape. But I was in shape."-Jackon as told to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports
He went on to say:
"My eyes may be deceiving me, but I believe I looked a little slower to me. But not now."
Jackson may have felt that he looked out of shape, however, he still rushed for 821 yards, which was the fifth consecutive season the quarterback rushed more than 700 yards.
